Watch cricket highlights: Bangladesh vs India Day 4 of the 2nd Test at Mirpur played on Jan 27, 2010.
Scoreline: Bangladesh (2nd Inn) 312 all out | Zaheer Khan 7 wickets, Ojha 2
India take the series 2-0
Rankings are not particularly meaningful, because the truth is the Indian team has quite a few loose ends fluttering around right now even in the test ignoreat. Over the last 20 years it’s the batting and Kumble that have given the Indian team any respectability. But the relative consistency over the last two years was kickstarted when Zaheer Khan returned to the team for the tour of England in 2007. So it was only appropriate that in a test where the rest of the Indian bowlers over 2 days had begun to look lifeless, he was the one to bring the tour to a surprisingly quick end.
Bangladesh will probably remember this test for a while. Not sure if they’ll ever get a chance like this with 2 opposition top-order batsmen unlikely to bat in the 2nd innings. Can’t fault Ashraful – the intent at least was there. Mahmudullah was the victim of a brilliant spell, but Shakib? Not sure what cause/issue/agenda Shakib was trying to highlight with his self-immolation attempt because the placard he held up went before him.

Watch cricket highlights: the 2nd semifinal from the Under-19 World Cup – Australia vs Sri Lanka played on Jan 27, 2010.
Scoreline: Sri Lanka 205 all out Fernando 52, Vithanage 40, Peiris 39 | Hazlewood 4
Aus win in a close finish 8 wickets down Mitchell Marsh (Shaun’s younger brother) 97, Triffitt 50 | Charith Jaympathi 3 to with the Q/F 4 wickets vs SA
Australia vs Pakistan in the final on Jan 27. That’s going to be an exciting game for the fans from either side. If Aus win, their fans will probably say, even our juniors take you down. And if Pakistan win, there will be a round of calls to drop “Under-19s” from the team name and make it just – Pakistan National Cricket Team.
Personally speaking, didn’t watch this game live, so not too much of an idea on the Aussie players here, but from what was on show in the Pakistan vs India game, Pak seem to have something going for them, though they appear to be over-relying on Hammad.

Aus win in the 49th cameron White 109 (88), Clarke 58 (76), Hussey 35 (37)
Callum Ferguson created the kind of spot for himself in the Aus middle-order that when he got injured, the impression of a gaping hole was temporarily given off. Since then, Cameron White (or as Tony Grieg says, Craig White) has been doing what Ferguson does and better, with the added ability to blow a game away from almost any given situation.

Watch cricket highlights: India vs Pakistan – the Quarter-Final from the 2010 U-19 World Cup played on Jan 23, 2010
Scoreline: India 114/9 (23 overs game) Mandeep Singh 40 (44) | Fayaz Butt 4, Raza 3
Pak win in the final over: Ahsan Ali 30 (45), Hammad Azam 21 (13), Rameez Aziz 28 (37) | Sandeep Sharma, Unadkat 2 apiece
Surprising that the Indian batsmen were tied up by the spin duo Raza and Babar at the end as you’d expect them to handle spin better than others. Having said that, Raza-Babar bowled as well as you can hope to see from a duo of international (senior) spinners looking to curtail runs. Babar apparently is also a big hitter, so good stuff looking ahead for Pakistan. Butt and Hammad deservedly walk away from this game with all the plaudits but if my Impotent Choice Committee were given the chance to pick two U-19 players to join the Pak national team over the next couple of years, it would be Hammad and Ahsan Ali, with Babar looking 15 with time to spare.
For India, probably not the best game to have a look at some of the players that could come into the Indian team over the next few years. Given the conditions and all, it was more about the bowlers making an impression. Mandeep Singh however looked quite cool. Sandeep Sharma looks like a Praveen Kumar sort of character and bowler who’d be really good in certain conditions.
Overall, you’d have to say India played the safer cricket which (probably) therefore cracked at crucial pressure moments while Pak flung themselves headlong into those moments and came up better on this occasion.

Can’t recall Sehwag being held back this much by a spinner. Shakib has taken Sehwag the two times this series, so it seems like it’s gonna give Day 2 morning, one way or the other. Also, would it be too much to ask Bangladesh to collectively put on a show rather than heroically tragic solo outings

Watch cricket highlights: Bangladesh vs India Day 2 of the 2nd Test at Mirpur played on Jan 25, 2010.
Scoreline: India (1st Inn) 459/5 Sachin Tendulkar 143, Rahul Dravid (retd hurt) 111, Gambhir 68, Sehwag 56 | Shafiul Islam and Shakib 2 each
If you think of the teams that have done consistently well for a fairly decent stretch of time, one thing that stands out is that they often make their own luck. Bangladesh had some stuff happening their way early today, but once that phase flitted away, to expect Sachin-Rahul to do anything other than what they did was like a dream in your deepest slumber – fading away even as it occurs.

Watch cricket highlights from the 5th and final day of the 3rd Test – Australia vs Pakistan played at Hobart on Jan 18, 2010
Scoreline: Pakistan 206 all out (2nd Inn) – lose by 232 | Siddle 3, Hauritz 3, Watson 2
One of the things noticeable is the subdued celebrations yet again from the Aussies after a series win – is it because their core players have seen the lows of the highs or is it a case of players following the captain’s cue who himself has sobered down a fair bit in the last couple of years. Must be the latter.

Most of the day lost to fog and poor light as Bangladesh do what all those not carried away by the anger of yesterday thought they’d do. The good news for Bangladesh however is that Shakib’s yet to come and Ashraful looked quite calm the short while he was around (considering his current transition phase that doesn’t necessarily indicate much – but definitely worth tuning in for tomorrow).
